Recently, a survey conducted by Ipsos, a world-renowned polling agency in Paris, France, showed that during the period from December 22, 2022 to January 6, 2023, 22508 adults from 32 countries were surveyed through its global consultant online survey platform. The results show that among the 32 countries surveyed, China ranks first with a happiness index of 91%, while Saudi Arabia (86%) and the Netherlands (85%) rank second and third, respectively.

Overall, only 73% of respondents said they currently feel happy. The happiness index in middle-income countries is significantly higher than that in high-income countries. In terms of comprehensive ranking, the United States (76%) and Japan (60%) ranked 14th and 29th respectively. South Korea ranked 31st with 57%, followed by Hungary, with a happiness index of 50%.

For the first time since Ipsos began tracking surveys in 2011, the average level of happiness in middle-income countries has exceeded that of high-income countries.

According to surveys, people's happiness mainly comes from their relationships with children, spouses, relatives, friends, colleagues, and nature, as well as areas related to knowledge, such as their educational level and access to information. The feeling of unhappiness mainly comes from dissatisfaction with the economic, political, or social situation of your country, your financial situation, love, and sports activities.

The 2022 World Happiness Report, completed by the Columbia University research team at the UBC University School of Economics with the support of the London School of Economics and the Economic Performance Research Center of the Canadian Institute of Advanced Studies (CIFAR), shows that Finland has become the happiest country in the world for the fifth consecutive year with a total score of 7.821 in the happiness index for the entire year of 2022. Denmark and Iceland ranked second and third, respectively. The top three are all occupied by Nordic countries.

Canada ranks 15th in this year's ranking, with a total score of 7.025 points. Higher than the United States (16th) and the United Kingdom (17th), China ranks 72nd in the ranking, with a total score of 5.585 points, ranking in the middle of the list. Afghanistan ranked last on the list with a score of 2.404.
