The driving is terrible. The way they drink soup is disgusting. Squatting toilet. Many dirty places need cleaning. You don't need a passport to get on the train. Some regulations often change.

But he has friendly and pleasant places and delicious food.

What do Westerners think China needs to improve? The answer from British netizens is uncomfortable

Hi!

My name is Clara. I studied and lived in Nottingham University, Ningbo. During my stay in China, I met some good and bad things. Not everything is perfect. Some things I don't like are completely due to cultural differences. From a social point of view, when you are born in an environment with a series of rules, you have been repeating these rules all your life, so it will make you feel uncomfortable to see others do not follow these rules. This is often referred to as cultural shock. So in my opinion, the question is not so much how the Chinese people should improve, but rather how I am affected by China as a Westerner, because I do not abide by or violate these rules of China. Here is my answer to this question. I hope readers like it:

1. Noisy!

I come from a country where noise is as natural as sunshine. It is considered to be one of the noisiest countries in Europe, but not the noisiest (Madrid is the sixth noisiest city in the world, I searched). Spain is a place where you can't call in a coffee shop because everyone is talking at the same time. Spain is where people sing in the street. People will feel very noisy, but China has a completely different view on this matter. They have no sense of "public space" noise. In Spain, although some people speak loudly on the subway, others will look ugly. In China, people talk loudly on public transport. In China, people play music without headphones. In China, people watch videos without headphones. In China, people scream from one part of the store to another. Maybe it's because I'm not used to Chinese conversation, because Mandarin often has a lot of tone changes, so I always feel a lot of noise when I go there. As a person from the most noisy country in Europe, I still think China is very noisy.

2. 8 euros for milk and 1.5 euros for noodles

I think one of the most strange and annoying things is the ridiculous price. I can't believe that a large bowl of noodles costs 1.5 euros and three apples costs 3 euros. Mops and snacks are also ridiculously expensive. Going to the supermarket is always a good way to kill time. I can see new food and ridiculous prices that cannot be found in Spain. If you want to maintain your eating habits in the original country, it is impossible. Butter and milk are very expensive. Coffee is very expensive. Bread is considered as a dessert, so it is more expensive than our own country. Besides, it's sweet. When I first tried Chinese soft bread, I was puzzled because it was usually salty in Spain.

3. If you do not have a bank account, you will bear the consequences

I am a stupid person. My college classmate said, "You should create a bank account". At that time, I didn't care: "I can pay in cash". Hmm... I will always remember the first time I paid in cash in the school canteen. A wonderful young man entertained me and asked me for the fee. I showed her a note. She laughed. I found that in many places, cash is considered a strange way of payment. Usually use QR code. Even in small street markets, you can see payment by QR code. Even at the railway station, you pay by QR code. Believe me, it's wise to open a bank account so that you can make online payments through mobile phones and enter the wonderful world of Taobao.
